23 Adoptions At Taylor Animal Shelter Saturday 9/27/14

The Taylor Animal Shelter's first Saturday adoption event was a huge success.  Animal Control officers opened up the doors at 9:00 AM.  There was a line of people waiting, to take home a new family member.  After the morning rush, there was a steady flow of people throughout the rest of the day.  Pound Pals of Taylor, the nonprofit that helps take care of the animals, were on hand giving out donuts, cider, hot dogs, cookies, and water for a donation.  Thank you to everyone that worked together to make this happen.  Below are just a few of the  animals adopted.

Meet Our Maxwell!

Maxwell is a playful boy, but he is a little shy. A quieter home would be great for him! He will need a lot of attention initially, so that he can come out of his shell. He is a wonderful, handsome boy who is just in need of a little love.

This guy is almost 7 months old. He is house-trained, neutered and current on vaccinations.

This sweetheart will be at the Livonia PetSmart on Saturdays from 11-3. Come up and meet this cutie!

KENNY AND HIS GO CART

Meet Kenny. Kenny came in as a stray and we thought, "What's the story with this poor boy?" The skin from his lower jaw hangs down like a flap and he drags his back legs (maybe from a stroke). His hind legs can't support his weight so he can't jump up. Thanks to the kindness of an animal lover, Kenny now has a cart that he uses to be more mobile. He can now almost have a body that matches his energy level.  Watch the video!

Kenny will need a very special rescue or home with someone who has the patience and environment to support his walking aid. He seems good with other dogs, but we think he's a little too interested in cats for us to be comfortable saying he would be OK with them. He will be neutered and up to date on vaccinations when he finds his new home.

If you would like more info on Kenny, please contact us by email at: wacvolunteers@gmail.com
We are very motivated to have Kenny join a reputable rescue. If you are interested in adoption you will need to fill out an application at: http://wacshelter.com/dform.html

Adoptions are through Wyandotte Animal Shelter (WAC) and the fee is $ 95.00.

Emaciated Yorkie Brought To The Taylor Animal Shelter

Sophie

This little yorkie came in to the Taylor Animal Shelter yesterday afternoon as a stray.  She is emaciated, neglected, and very sick.  Pound Pals of Taylor took her to the veterinarian last night.  Dr. Steve, from Healthy Paws in Westland, examined her.  She is extremely emaciated, dehydrated, and her teeth are infected.  She was given fluids, antibiotics, X-rays, and blood work.  The X-ray shows her abdomen is full of bones, from something she has eaten. She also has round worms.  We are still waiting to hear back on her blood work.
She slept through the night last night, and is up walking around.  She was able to eat a little bit of food.  She may need to go back to the vet today for fluids.  She will go back on Friday for a follow up X-ray.
She is currently receiving care around the clock.  We are hoping she can pass what is in her stomach, because she is to weak for surgery.  As she gets stronger, she will also need dental extractions.
Even after everything she has been through, this girl is a lover.  She is very tired, and wants to be held, and gives kisses.
Pound Pals of Taylor is a nonprofit organization, that raises money to care for the sick and injured animals that come in to The Taylor Animal Shelter.  This is only one day, one story.  We are constantly trying to raise funds, so that we can continue to provide the much needed care these animals deserve.

A HANDSOME WANNA BE

Hi I'm Eli. I was a lonely guy living on the streets and wasn't taking good care of myself. I was not much more than skin and bones and my beautiful long hair was dull and very, very matted. The shelter folks took me in, fed me well and shaved me down. Now I'm on my way to being the handsome guy I should be. I am very friendly and like kids, dogs and other cats so would fit into you life with ease. If adopted I will be neutered and be current on my vaccinations.

If you are interested in me please come visit me at the Wyandotte Animal Shelter. You will need to fill out an adoption application which you can do there or online at:
