Adoption Day Taylor Animal Shelter Saturday November 1st.

Taylor Animal Shelter, and Pound Pals of Taylor are teaming up for another adoption event, this Saturday, November 1st.  Last month's event was so successful, 16 dogs, 6 kittens, and 2 cats were adopted.  Let's see if we can match that success, or better!  About 20 dogs, 12 cats, and a few kittens are available.

Pound Pals will be providing hot dogs, chips, and hot cocoa, for a donation.  We are always looking for volunteers, dog walkers, etc.  Volunteers, and Animal Control Officers will be on hand to answer questions, and provide assistance with the animals.  Come out and join us.

The shelter will be open from 9-3.  All pets will be $40.  Licensing will be available.  The Taylor Animal Shelter is located at 25555 Northline Road (next to the Department of Public Works building).

A December (“pre-Christmas Day”) event is also tentatively planned, with the date to-be-announced.

Pound Pals of Taylor is a non-profit 501c3 organization formed to assist the sick & injured animals, and provide vaccinations at the Taylor Animal Shelter.

A few of the adoptable pets at the shelter

Cody is pictured at the top of the page.   He is our superstar and has been at the shelter the longest.   This boy is house trained and neutered.  He sits, shakes, and lays down on command.  He is a senior gentlemen at 9 years old.  He needs to be the only dog in the house.  I know there is that perfect home out there for Cody Bear to spend his golden years.

Lucky is a senior, male,  black lab mix.  He was an owner surrender.  He is house trained, good with kids, other dogs, and cats.  He also likes to play fetch.

This sweet girl was found with another beagle that has already been adopted.  She is a beautiful red beagle mix.

This gorgeous boy is in a kennel with another male, pictured just below.  They are both listed as shih tzu mixes,  but they look like they have terrier in them.  Both very sweet.

This is Max.  He is less than 6 months old.  Pit and shepherd mix.  This guy is all puppy.  Playful, and lovable!

Rally is a domestic short hair, female.  She is very friendly, and would love to have a home of her own.

Female calico.  Very sweet.  I don't know why this gorgeous girl has been overlooked for so long.

There are many more at the shelter.  Stop by Saturday, look around, and enjoy some hot cocoa.

Meet Dennis The Menace!

This boy is a very energetic, young and fun Maltese mix, with an awesome little under-bite! He weighs about 18 lbs and is approximately 18-24 months old.

Dennis was found tied to post in the rain, with an overgrown and matted coat. He was brought to the shelter where he was not claimed and is now ready for a new home. The shelter had him shaved, as the matting and debris in his overgrown fur could not be brushed out.

He is very loving and sweet but will benefit from some training. He will need someone experienced with young, untrained dogs to help him grow to his potential. He does need direction and needs to learn rules and boundaries. He is NOT house trained.

Dennis gets along well with other dogs. He will need a fenced yard.

Dennis the Menace is up to date on shots, neutered and has tested negative for heartworm. He is on heart-worm prevention and has been micro chipped. Please open your home to Dennis the Menace and help him be the best buddy ever!

His adoption fee is $250.00 (cash or credit card)

This sweetheart will be at the Livonia PetSmart on Saturdays from 11-3. Come up and meet this cutie!

Bob and Bill are the Best Brothers Ever!

Here's Bill
And here's Bob!
Bill and his brother Bob were taken to the shelter by their owner, along with another cat. The third cat was adopted from the shelter but Bill and Bob still need homes. Even though Bill is a short haired cat, his fur was so badly matted and neglected that he had to have his back shaved. Both of the boys love to be brushed so hopefully his coat will never look that bad again.

Bill and Bob are very bonded to each other so I am looking to adopt them out together. Both of then were a little shy when they got here, but now they fit in just like one of the bunch and get along great with the other cats and dogs here. As I type this, Bob is here giving my hand head butts and purring like crazy. Both of them are very sweet and playful. Bill is the lap cat and will curl up on you for hours while you watch a movie. They both eat well and will do dry or canned foods. They should go to a new home where the owner will make sure to keep an eye on their weight. Bob is ok, but Bill could stand to shed a few pounds.

Both of them are 4 paw declawed, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. The adoption donation is $200 for both. If you are interested in adopting my big orange boys, please email me at Beagmom1@yahoo.com for an application.

All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neutering. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV, given age appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this feline a wonderful forever life in a permanent home.

She is spayed and current on her vaccinations. She just needs a loving family to play with.

Have Some Fun With Buster Brown!

This handsome boy is Buster Brown! Buster is a boxer mix who was rescued from a shelter, where he came in as a stray. He is approximately 1 year old and he weighs around 55 pounds.

Buster is a bundle of energy and happiness. He loves people and other dogs. He enjoys playing and romping with his foster dog siblings. He is very affectionate towards his humans and thinks he is a lap dog.

Buster is house broken, crate trained, micro-chipped, on heart worm and flea preventative, up-to-date on vaccinations, and neutered. He knows a couple of basic commands, but he definitely requires further training. Due to his size and energy, Buster would not do well with young children. BUSTER REQUIRES A FENCED YARD.

Jasmine is a Beauty Queen

Jasmine has been in foster care for a while. She is adoptable but only to the right pet owner. She came form a hoarder type house that had over 30 cats! These cats were taken care of but the owner has passed away.

Jasmine is 5 years old and has a sassy side to her. She is now in foster care with other cats and does well, but she would thrive if she has a home as the only kitty. She does not mind the dogs in the house.

She loves to rest on laps and she likes to get some loving.
We're looking for a home for Jasmine that will allow her to be a cat and love when she wants to love. She loves a cat bed and loves to look out the window.

If you would like to give Jasmine a chance to be a happy cat and get a bit of loving on her terms, then she would love to meet you. She has been fully vetted and her adoption fee is $100.

For an application please contact Lori at lwend5763@yahoo.com

Cuddle Up With Cali!

Momma Cali is a young adult kitty with lots of love to give! She loves her people friends, but isn't too sure about other cats and dogs quite yet, but her foster is working on that.

Cali loves to lay on her cat stand and look out windows but she especially loves sitting next to her foster mom while she watches television. She is a true cuddle bug once she gets to know you.

This sweetie would do well in a home on her own or maybe with one or two other pets, as long as her new humans understand that she may take a little longer to get along with everyone.

Cali is house-trained, spayed and current on her shots. By the way, isn't she gorgeous?!

Our cat adoption fee is $75.00 and kittens are $60 plus refundable $25 spay / neuter deposit. (cash or credit card)

Tinker was taken to the vet last week, by Pound Pals of Taylor, because of a rash on her abdomen and throat.  She was diagnosed with food or environmental allergies, and given an antibiotic and steroid injection.  She has been at the shelter since early August.  Tinker needs to find a home or go into rescue, where her food and environment can be monitored, and her allergies addressed.  She is very friendly, and purred the entire time she was at the vet.  She is also already spayed.

This gorgeous calico  was an owner surrender back in August.  Very friendly, and just wants a home of her own.

This grey tabby came in as a stray in August.

This handsome guy was an owner surrender on August 11.

DOG BROUGHT IN TO THE SHELTER WITH THROAT SLICED OPEN. Please Share, multiple rescues are needed.

Heidi

Heidi was brought into the shelter yesterday at approximately 4 pm, with her throat sliced open, possibly an embedded collar. After giving her anesthesia, and shaving her, they found that someone had placed a rubber band around her neck.  She is very sweet and friendly.  Approximately 1 y old. She does have a grade 1-2 heart murmur.  They think it is possibly due to her condition and can improve over time.  They will keep her at the vet as long as they don't need the space.  She is Heartworm negative.  Rescue is needed for her while she recovers.  She cannot go back to the shelter.

If anyone recognizes this dog or has any information, please contact The Taylor Animal Shelter, and speak with an animal control officer at (734)287-6550.

The rubber band that was removed.

 Her throat sliced open

 And look at this cutie!

Colbolt

He is also on pain meds for arthritis.  Rescue is needed to provide on going medical care.

You can see one of the tumors on his right front shoulder.  Trying to kiss one of our Pound Pals volunteers.

Just chillin at the vet, looking handsome.

A better view of the tumor.

Cody
Cody has been at the shelter the longest, since July.  He is a chow mix, 9 years old.  He needs to be the only dog.  He is very sweet, and a staff/volunteer favorite.  He has been nick named Cody Bear, or Bear.  House trained and neutered.  He walks well on a leash, is trained to sit, shake, and lay down.  He needs a forever home or rescue ASAP.
